Field notes
Coordinating your adviser with your accountant
Financial advice and accountancy sit on either side of the same ledger. When they do not speak, directors overfund pensions in the wrong year or take dividends that push them into awkward tax bands.
Share the engagement letter
Give your accountant a copy of the advice scope so they know what has already been modelled. Duplicated cash-flow work wastes fees; contradictory contribution advice creates HMRC risk.
Timing beats product choice
For many company directors, the valuable question is not which fund, but whether a contribution should land before or after a year-end bonus. That timing decision belongs in a joint conversation.
Keep a single pack of statements
Upload or post the same pension and ISA pack to both professionals. Conflicting valuations are a common source of mismatched recommendations.
At North Quay we routinely write short accountant summaries after a comprehensive planning review. If you already have a trusted firm, we will work beside them rather than around them.
